Welcome Ceremony of AUST Fall Semestar-2009
The day, 12 October 2009, was different from the other days for everybody of the university because that was the day for freshers welcome ceremony. That's why all the employees of the university were eagerly waiting to receive the freshers along with their parents/guardian. And this really happened in Ahsnullah University of Science and Technology which is situated in 141-142 Love Road,Tejgaon, Dhaka. The orientation and receiption ceremony for the freshers of Fall Semester 2009 was a day long program at the picturesque permanent campus of the university.
The day was also open to the parents/guardians of the new students. Most of the students came in the campus with their parents between 08:00 am to 08:30 AM. The parents went around to see got acquainted with the members of the faculty as well as other employees of the department of their wards. The head of the concerned department along with the faculty members received the parents/guardians and explain the academic programmes, rules & regulations and showed them the campus. The open house ended at 10:00 AM in the cafeteria of the University with a cup of tea and the parents/guardians departed thereafter leaving behind their wards in the respective department. Orientation of the fresh students of each department led by the head of the respective department with faculty members was held in their class rooms at 10:30 AM. The academic and co-curricular activities of the university was explained where the course curricula, examination system, library facilities, different events, academic program, rules and regulations related to class attendance, discipline were highlighted.
Second session of the program started in open Court Yard at 03:00 PM where the newly admitted students were accorded welcome by the Vice Chancellor.. Engr. Ghulam Muhammed Quader , Honorable Minister for Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. M. Anwar Hossain, Vice Chancellor , AUST presided over the function. The program started with recitation from the Holy Quran. After that the flag of AUST was formally hoisted by the Chief Guest and when the flag was rising upward the chorus of AUST was being played. The Chief Guest told in his speech that he was well informed about AUST and knew that the result of AUST was up to the mark. But he did not know that the campus is so beautiful. It looks like an international university. He was very much impressed by the permanent campus of AUST. It's really a matter of pride for the students that they are the students of such a university. And he believed that they would study to desire maximum benefit out of it.
Prof. Hossain, AUST VC, in his speech emphasized that in this globalized world , the job market has also become global.Every graduate of AUST will have to compete for a job even inside Bangladesh.There is no alternative to quality.we will now have to maintain world-class standard to be competitive in the global job market. He urged the new comers to keep this mind and prepare themselves in the remaining of four years of studies before getting the first degree. Treasurer of AUST Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Dean of the faculty of Architecture and Planning Prof. Bijon Behari Sarma, the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. S.M. Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. A.M. Shadullah, DSW, Prof Dr. Md. Anwarul Mustafa also spoke on the session. A lively cultural function followed the welcome ceremony.
