Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST) celebrated its 7th convocation on 24 September 2014 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid MP, Honorable Minister, Minister of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh presided over the ceremony on behalf of the Honorable President, People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of AUST and conferred graduate and post-graduate degrees to 1100. students in different disciplines. Prof. Dr. Abdul Matin Patwari, Professor Emeritus, University of Asia Pacific and Former Vice-Chancellor, BUET graced the occasion as convocation speaker. Mr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, President, AUST Board of Trustees (BoT) and Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor, AUST spoke on the occasion. The ceremony was conducted by Registrar Muhammad Abdul Gafur. Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam presented the name of students who received Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Padak. Rakibul Islam Khan, Shuvashis Das Gupta and Khan Shagufta Shagufa received this award for their outstanding academic attainment at AUST.
The convocation began with the national anthem and recitation from the holy Quran. A total of 1100 graduates were conferred bachelor and masters degrees in eight disciplines including Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Textile Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, and Education.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid M.P. expressed his immense pleasure to congratulate the graduating students and wished them a successful life. He mentioned that there are around seventy nine private universities in Bangladesh and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology is one of the top leading universities among those.
Minister said that Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology has been building up a wealth of students who have been playing a vital role in contributing to the economic growth and development of the country. Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology is first among all the private universities which has gained to achieve the glory of getting permanent certificate fulfilling all other requirements including building it's beautiful permanent campus, he added.
Prof. Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Chairman, Board of Trustees, AUST (BoT) said that our graduates should have to be patriot first and honesty, sincerity and skill in every deeds is the patriotism. Though hard labour and sense of duties it will be possible to face the challenge of modern globalization. He inspired the graduates to do well wherever they are and whatever they do in their workfield.
Vice-Chancellor of AUST Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah congratulated all the graduates of AUST for their hard work and for achievement of the degree. He said to the graduates that success depends on wisdom and appropriate use of knowledge. There are two sides where they should be successful, one is in personal and family life and the other is in the social life. A better job or business can make one happy in family life but if they want to be successful in the society, they must have to be associated in the social welfare related activities themselves which is necessary for developing the society as well as our country. He also said that Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology is giving its best effort so that it may put mark as an ideal institute of learning in the field of science and technology at home and abroad.
The Convocation Speaker Prof. Dr. Abdul Matin Patwari said drawing attention of the graduates that I am happy to congratulate all of you. You have earned what is due to you through hard work, diligence and patience. You have completed a chapter of your life and are now going to embark on another and more real one. You completed your study and this does not mean you have completed your education. It is actually the beginning of your learning process. Whatever you have studied will now be used to acquire new knowledge that will allow you to face new challenges of your life and guide you to better understand the world you live in and enhance quality of your life. A university degree merely prepares you for a lifelong journey. It is your knowledge and experience through the years that will blend to develop your wisdom.
In the convocation, Members of the AUST Trustee Board, Syndicate Members, Members of Academic Council, Finance and Disciplinary Committee, Deans of the Faculties of AUST, Heads of the Departments of AUST, distinguished Vice-Chancellors, teachers, officers and employees of AUST along with journalists were present in the gala convocation.
The Convocation was followed by a dinner party in the evening arranged in the university campus where the graduates along with the teachers, officers, staffs and some distinguished guests participated.
