On 12 January 2023 a Seminar and follow-up Q & A session on Mental Wellbeing and Life Coaching was organized by ASA (Architecture Society of AUST). The speaker of the seminar was Mr. Zaved Parvez, founder of Dreams of Tomorrow who is also a Certified Business & Life Coach. The seminar was hosted by Mr. Naimul Aziz, Associate Professor, Department of Architecture, AUST and Mahia Binte Mamun, Student, 3rd year 2nd semester, Department of Architecture, AUST. The students from different semesters and many of our faculty members were also present in the seminar.
During the seminar, Mr. Zaved shared his knowledge and experience on various aspects of mental well-being and life related problems/opportunities, including stress management, mindfulness, self-care, and the importance of seeking professional help when needed. He discussed the common misconceptions and stigmas surrounding mental wellbeing and emphasized the need for more awareness and understanding of mental wellbeing issues.
The seminar was well-received by the audience, consisting of students, faculty members. The interactive session provided an opportunity for the attendees to ask questions and clarify their doubts about mental health and well-being. The event was a great success and helped to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our daily lives including academics.
The session was organized by the Seminar and Workshop Organizing Committee in collaboration with the Architecture Society of AUST (ASA). The committee members Ar. Farjana Rahman, Ar. S. M. Arafat Hossain, and Ar. Ishrat Momtaz Badhan organized the event, together with a number of student volunteers.
