Webinar on Green Energy for Modern World: Research Trends and Grid Stability Issues

A Webinar on Green Energy for the Modern World: Research Trends and Grid Stability Issues was held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 (Tuesday), from 7.00 PM (BST)-8.30 PM (BST). Dr. Md. Rifat Hazari (Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB)) conducted the session. Department of EEE, AUST, IEEE AUST Student Branch, and IEEE Power & Energy Society AUST SB Chapter jointly organized this event.

The event was streamed LIVE through the Zoom Platform. About 63 participants were present in the session. Distinguished faculty members from different departments were present. The event was open for students from other institutions as well.

Prof. Dr. Tareq Aziz (Professor, Dept. of EEE, AUST; Advisor, IEEE PES AUST SB Chapter) moderated the event. In introductory speech, Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Baki (Professor & Head, Dept. of EEE, AUST; Counselor, IEEE AUST SB) shared his profound ideas on the significance of the topic. After imparting his insightful views, Prof. Baki offered session's speaker to lead the event.

Dr. Md. Rifat Hazari started his presentation by addressing the current worldwide situation of energy generation from various renewable sources. He highlighted some renewable energy generators, their stability concerns, grid integration difficulties, and techniques to enhance and maximize the electricity generation. Dr. Hazari also spoke on some of the Bangladesh government's wind and solar PV projects, as well as the research opportunities for these renewable energy generation and grid integration issues. He presented some of his research on how to strengthen the existing stability circumstances for renewable generators, as well as videos of some of the projects on the matter. He also discussed some of the simulation tools and features available for studying the impacts of renewable generators in UG and PG levels.

Following the presentation, a Q/A session was held, with questions coming from the audience. The Q&A session was a pure treat, with engaging questions from the audience and insightful responses and suggestions from the respected speaker and faculty members. It was an informative webinar for both new and experienced learners since it emphasized the potential and challenges of renewable energy generation in Bangladesh and around the world. The session adjourned with a vote of thanks.
